XIII. Colin, second Lord Kintail, the eldest son, was served heir of his
father, 23d May 1615, and heir male of Colin his grandfather, 15th June
1619, had a charter of Balmungie, Allangreig, and other lands, 4th
February 1623 [In the public register is a charter to Kenneth, Lord
Kintail, de officio Mari infra comitatum de Ross, et vicecomitatum de
Inverness, 16th March 1624, probably a confirmation of a charter of date
preceding March 1611. Mag. Sig. L. 1. No. 322.], and was created Earl of
Seaforth, by patent dated at Theobalds, 3d December 1623, to him and
his heirs male. He had a charter to Colin, Earl of Seaforth, of the lands
of Moydart and Arrasack, 13th March 1627, and he died 15th April 1633.
He married Lady Margaret Seton, born 8th August 1599, third daughter of
Alexander, first Earl of Dunfermline, high-chancellor of Scotland, by
whom he had two daughters.
