Was born on 7th June 1838, and was educated at home and the
University of Glasgow. He was licensed by the Presbytery of Mull in
December 1860, and was ordained to St. Columba''s Church, Glasgow, on
25th November 1862, translated to Blair Atholl on 6th May 1868,
translated to St. Stephen''s Church, Edinburgh, on 28th September 1875,
and translated to the High Church, Inverness, on 7th August 1890. he
received the doctorate of divinity of Glasgow University, in 1883, and
that of St. Andrews in 1911. Dr. MacLeod was appointed, in 1894,
depute-clerk to the General Assembly, and principal clerk in 1907. he
was Moderator of the General Assembly of 1900. On 11th December
1906, he demitted his charge at Inverness, and died on 11th December
1911. He married, on 8th September 1863, helen Augusta (who died on
14th March 1914), daughter of John Colquhoun, and sister of Sir Alan
John Colquhoun, 13th Baronet of Luss, without issue.
