In the 18th Century the MacLeods of Garrabost were one of the two
leading MacLeod families in Lewis. They were descended from a certain
Norman Og MacLeod, who died in 1739.
Norman Og appeared as Tacksman of Upper Bayble and was of sufficient
consequence in Lewis for the Earl of Seaforth to give him a Captain''s
Commission in 1715.
He married (1) a daughter of George MacKenzie of Kildun and he married
(2) Catherine MacIver.
