Norman Berners was a son of Donald, eldest son of Norman MacLeod, 7th
of the MacLeods of Drynoch, but Donald having died before his father, the
representation of the family devolved upon his elder son, Norman
Berners, who as a young man emigrated to Canada, where, it is believed,
he married, with issue. His descendants seem to have mysteriously
disappeared, for none of them has been traced. It is not known whether
his brother, Alexander Nixon, left issue or not.
