Although a minor when his grandfather, Iain a''Chuil Bhain, died in 1557,
was acknowledged by the MacLeod''s as his successor. [BANNATYNE
MANUSCRIPT]. He was a mere boy when his grandfather died, and soon
afterwards was assassinated by their uncle, Iain Dubh, in the Castle at
Dunvegan.
Norman was the eldest son of Norman, who was the eldest son of Iain
a''Chuil Bhain, and was a minor when his grandfather died in 1557. Next
year, when his uncle, Iain Dubh, seized Dunvegan Castle, he put Norman,
his two brothers, and their guardian, Donald Breac, to death, as already
noted. Norman was succeeded in the representation of the family by his
cousin.
