[This information the compiler received from the late Rev. Kenneth
MacLeod, D.D., minister of Gigha and Cara, who was himself in direct
descent from Donald of Fasach.]. It was in Assynt he met Mary MacKenzie
[GENEALOGICAL NOTES by John MacLeod Campbell of Saddell, Kintyre, who
was descended from Donald of Fasach], who became his wife. By her he
had one son, also Donald by name, who became the famous smith and
armourer of Swordale, known to his contemporaries as Gobha Mor
Shuardail. The Boreray Songster (Murchadh nam Port) gave the Gobha''s
pedigree to his grandson, the Rev. John MacLeod, D.D., of Morven, thus:
Domhnall nan tri Domhnall agus b''e chiad fhear dhiubh Domhnall an
Fhasaich (Donald of the three Donalds, the first of whom was Donald of
Fasach). [Information supplied by the late Rev. Kenneth MacLeod, D.D.,
Gigha and Cara.] Donald was born about 1700 and died on 27th/28th of
August 1779. He married Anne MacDonald, daughter of Kenneth Campbell
(of the Campbells of Scalpay), tacksman of Ui in the Island of Taransay,

with issue.
Donald MacLeod 1st of Fasach was succeeded by his eldest son.
