!MENTION: Rev. Dr. Donald MacKinnon and Alick Morrison, THE MACLEODS
-- THE GENEALOGY OF A CLAN, Section III, "MacLeod Cadet Families",
Edinburgh, The Clan MacLeod Society, 1970, pp. 21, 23.
After the accession of Sir Roderick Mor MacLeod to the Chiefship in
1595, returned to the MacLeod ''country'', and resided at Fasach in
Waternish. He was known as Domhnall an Fhasaich (Donald of Fasach),
and became the progenitor of Fasach, of whom afterwards. [See post, The
MacLeods of Fasach].
The MacLeods of Fasach in Waternish were descended from Norman
MacLeod, 4th of the MacLeod family of Waternish, and his wife,
Catherine, daughter of James MacDonald of Castle Camus in Sleat. [THE
BANNATYNE MANUSCRIPT] Norman''s second son, Donald, was the
progenitor of the family, styled ''of Fasach''.
Donald was born and reared in the Kingsburgh district of Troternish,
which was MacDonald Country. When Sir Roderick Mor MacLeod succeeded
to the chiefship of the Clan, he invited Donald back to the lands held by
his ancestors and settled him at Fasach. There is reason to believe that
Sir Roderick appointed him his armourer and smith, and for three
generations the heads of this family acted in this capacity on the
MacLeod estates. In the traditions of the Clan Donald [BANNATYNE
MANUSCRIPT] has come down as Domhnall an Fhasaich (Donald of Fasach).
He married a lady of whome nothing is known, and by her had issue.

1969, pp. 417, 418.
Donald MacLeod, Tacksman of Fassach in Waternish, Isle of Skye, 2nd
son of Norman MacLeod, 4th of Waternish, the descendant of Ian Borb
MacLeod of MacLeod (see Volume 1, MacLeod of Glendale), m. and had,
with other issue, a second son, Donald Og MacLeod in the Isle of Skye…
