Barlow Mitchel MacLeod was born on 8th January 1795, at Stevenson,
East Lothian, and died of a bilious fever on 10th October 1809 at his
father''s lodgings, Cockspur Street, Haymarket, London. His obituary
notice states that he was:
"a youth of talents so great as held out the fairest promise of his
consipicuous filling the place allotted to him in society as male heir and
representative of the MacLeods of Lewis - one of the most ancient and
powerful of the clans."
