He left a widow, a Dutch lady, Hannah Waldon, and five children....
When Major William MacLeod returned from America to Fort George, in
1781, he was accompainied by an English servant whose Christian name
was Abram. It was the dying request of the veteran Major that his
servant should remain with the widow and family. Abram was a faithful
domestic, strongly attached to his mistress and her children. He wrote a
Journal, from which extracts were published in the "Inverness Courier,"
in January 1854. Major MacLeod''s widow died on the 4th January 1803,
and was buried on the 7th of the month in MacLeod of MacLeod''s burial
place in the Chapel Yard, Inverness.
