Roderick … was born in 1727, and was educated at King''s College,
Aberdeen, where he graduated M.A. in 1746. He was appointed Professor
of Philosophy in King''s College in 1749, sub-Principal on 4th November
1764, and Principal on 28th April 1800. King''s College conferred on him,
on 8th January 1793, the Doctorate of Divinity. Principal Roderick
MacLeod died on 11th September 1815, having been connected with King''s
College, as Professor, sub-Principal and Principal, for the long period of
sixty-nine years. He married, on 6th June 1780, Isobel (who died on 12th
February 1832, aged seventy-two years), daughter of Dr. Christie of
Baberton, with issue.
