His descendants continued to reside at Fasach in Waternish until about
1850. The famous Minister Bard of Gigha, The Rev. Kenneth MacLeod, D.D.,
author of "The Road to the Isles" and annotator and compiler with
Margery Kennedy Fraser of many of our loveliest Hebridean airs, born
1871, and died 1955, was the direct descendant of the MacLeods of
Fasach. He was a Vice-President of the Clan MacLeod Society and a
memorial window was dedicated to his memory in Iona Cathedral
Cathedral in 1966. His father was Donald MacLeod, parish schoolmaster
of Eigg, who married Jessie Humphreys, with issue, David, Marion,
Christina, Williamina, Euphemia, 2 infants, who died young, as well as
Rev. Kenneth MacLeod, D.D. (above). Rev. Dr. Kenneth MacLeod was the
beloved minister of Colonsay and Oronsay, 1917-23, and of Gigha and
Cara, 1923-47.
