John Mor MacLeod was also wounded at Torran Dubh (see his elder
brother Neil), but left issue. He killed his uncle, Angus Mor III of Assynt
at the Stoer and for that reason had to leave Assynt and dwell in the
Durness district. His race, Sliochd Iain Mhoir, were to play an important
part in the feud between MacLeod of Eddrachillis and MacKay of
Strathnaver following the murder of Norman III of Eddrachillis and the
abduction of his widow by Y Dubh MacKay.
