Hamilton Hall, born on 27th September 1821, entered Cheltenham
Endowed Grammar School at 6. In 1839 he joined the Army and was
commissioned as Lieutenant in the 27th Regiment of the Madras Native
Infantry on 21st March 1841. In 1844 he proceeded to Europe on sick
leave and was on furlough until 1847. He did not return to his Regiment
and is believed to have been lost at sea on his way to Australia.
