John, 1727-1804, ...became a Cadet in the Dutch Service in 1738; Ensign
1741; Captain 1749; Major 1766 and Colonel in 1779 in the Scottish
Brigade (Colyer''s Regiment). In 1782 the Scottish Regiments lost their
Nationality and were transferred to the Dutch Corps and Col. MacLeod
retired the following year. He married at Doornspijk in 1754 Margaretha
Arnolda van Brienen, 1733-77, daughter of Wijn and Jacob van Brienen
and Wobina van Ingen, with issue. [There''s a threesome here?]
