Died after having risen to the rank of Colonel in the Madras Army. It is
said he was not married, but the marriage of a daughter, Catherine, is
given in the SNIZORT PAROCHIAL REGISTER thus:
''1828, Feb. 19 -- Mr. Alexander Kennedy, Kishorn, Parish of Lochcarron,
to Miss Catherine MacLeod, Skirinish, Parish of Snizort, daughter of the
late Col. Alexr. MacLeod of the H.E.I.C.S.''
Alexander Kennedy was the son of Donald Kennedy, tacksman, Kishorn,
Lochcarron, and his wife, Mary, daughter of Donald Matheson (of the
Mathesons of Fernaig and Attadale), and his wife, Margaret, daughter of
Roderick MacKenzie, 2nd of the MacKenzies of Sanachan (a branch of the
MacKenzies of Applecross). Catherine MacLeod by Alexander Kennedy had
issue.
