Was born on 28th February 1805, and succeeded his brother as 15th of
Boreray. He entered the Indian Army as Ensign on 21st February 1821,
and rose to the rank of Major-General. He married a daughter of John
Hyde Pelley of the Bombay Civil Service, without issue. Major-General
MacLean died, in June 1875, in London.
