V. Murdoch Mackenzie of Kintail, who, from his swarthy complexion,
was called Murdoch Dow. He had a charter of confirmation of all his
lands from King David II., in 1360, being designed filius Kennethi, and he
died in 1375. He married Isabel, daughter of Murdoch Macaulay, with
whom he got the lands of Lochbroom, and by her had a son. [He had also
three other sons, Hector, Duncan, and Alexander, of whom several
families of the name of Mackenzie are descended.]
