Coll... lived all his life at Barisdale, and for many years held a
commission for regulating the fisheries from Ardnamurchan Point to
Gairloch. He is described by John Knox, the traveller, as a ''gentleman of
great bodily strength, who is both loved and feared''. [TOUR THROUGH THE
HIGHLANDS OF SCOTLAND (1787), p. 101.] He married Helen, fourth
daughter of William Dawson of Graden, roxburghshire, with issue. [CLAN
DONALD, III, p. 343.] He died in 1826, predeceased by his wife in 1805.]
