Was born in December 1885, and enlisted, on 5th August 1914, in the
London Scottish. Two months later, he was wounded in France. He was
gazetted 2nd Lieutenant in February 1915, and went to Gallipoli. He was
invalided out of the army in 1916. In 1918, he volunteered for service,
and was posted to the Royal Air Force, but soon he was again forced to
retire for health reasons. He married, in 1919, Winnifred Moss, with
issue, a son, John MacLeod, who was killed, in April 1944, in action with
the German battleship SCHARNHORST, in the English Channel.
