Born in 1927, obtained a B.M. degree from the Royal Conservatory of
Music and later a Master''s Degree. He was also awarded a Fellowship to
study musical composition in Paris, and later a Canada Council
Fellowship. He is an associate professor at the Conservatory, where he
studied and is an outstanding pianist, composer and musical critic. He
married Pamel Terry, who studied at the University of British Columbia
and at a School of the Theatre in Toronto. She is a talented director of
amateur theatricals. Of their four children, Robin, the eldest, is already
showing great promise in poetry and theatricals.
