Arthur Wyckoff, born in 1893,… received a B.A. from Acadia University
in 1915, although he had enlisted, with his brother Norman MacLeod,
earlier that year in the 6th Canadian Mounted Rifles. After nearly a year
in France as signallers in the 9th Canadian Infantry Brigade, both were
brought back to Canada for Commission in the Nova Scotia Highland
Brigade. He joined its Senior Battalion, the 85th, as platoon Commander
and later as Scout and Intelligence Officer. He was wounded at the
battle of Amiens and awarded the M.C. After obtaining an LL.B. from
Dalhousie Law School in 1921, he was called to the Bar of Nova Scotia
and was married the same day to Irene Frances Ganter, an Acadian
Classmate. During nine years in the Department of Attorney General of
Ontario, he edited an edition of Tremeear''s Criminal Code, co-edited
another text on Criminal law, and co-authored a police officers'' manual.
For 30 years he was with The Canadian Bankers'' Association and for
most of them Secretary-Treasurer and Associate Counsel. In his 7th
year after retirement, he edited the 7th edition of Falconbridge''s
BANKING AND BILLS OF EXCHANGE and wrote the MACLEOD SAGA and
MACCRIMMON SAGA, some 1,500 lines of blank verse on the highlights in
the history of the Clan MacLeod. He is a Vice-President of the Clan
MacLeod Society of Central Ontario and attends the Clan Parliaments at
Dunvegan Castle. he was the close friend of the Chief Norman Magnus
MacLeod and a valued counsellor of the present Chief, Dame Flora
MacLeod of MacLeod, D.B.E. Arthur and Irene had three children.
