Biography
!MENTION: Rev. Dr. Donald MacKinnon and Alick Morrison, THE MACLEODS
-- THE GENEALOGY OF A CLAN, Section III, "MacLeod Cadet Families",
Edinburgh, The Clan MacLeod Society, 1970, p. 11.
William MacLeod is on record in 1698 as "son lawful to Alexander
MacLeod of Ferinlea". He succeeded his father about 1699 and died about
1705, aged about 30 years. He married Mary, daughter of Rev. Aeneas
MacQueen of Sleat and "relict" of Alexander MacLeod 2nd of Greshornish,
with at least a son, Norman, who died young. He is mentioned several
times in the Contullich Accounts 1706-1720 and was succeeded in
Ferinlea by his younger brother, Roderick.
[Note: If William died about 1705, why is he mentioned in Contullich
Accounts as late as 1720? This one got by MacKinnon and Morrison!]
