chaplains in Scotland, Moderator of the Gen. Assembly of the Church of
Scotland, Dean of the Thistle, b. 3 Jun3, 1812, m. 11 Aug. 1851, Catherine
Ann (d. 30 March 1903), dau. of William Mackintosh, of Geddes, Nairn, and
d. 16 June 1872, leaving issue of three sons and six daughters.

Norman MacLeod was born on 3rd June 1812, and was educated at the
Parish Schools of Morven and Campsie, and the Universities of Edinburgh
and Glasgow. He was licensed by the Presbytery of Glasgow in May 1837,
and was ordained to Loudon on 15th March 1838. He was translated to
Dalkeith on 23rd November 1843, and to The Barony, Glasgow, on 17th
July 1851. He was honoured by the University of Glasgow by its
doctorate of Divinity in 1858, and by his Church with its moderatorship
in 1869. He was one of H.M. Chaplains-in-ordinary, adn was a valued of
Queen Victoria, who greatly lamented his death in 1872. Her Majesty
place two beautiful memorial windows to Dr. MacLeod''s memory in
Crathie Church, where he had often preached during the Queen''s visits to
Balmoral. He was Dean of the Thistle from 1869 to 1872. He married, on
11th August 1851, Catherine Anne (who died 30th March 1903), daughter
of William MacKintosh of Geddes, Nairnshire, with issue.
The Rev. Norman MacLeod, D.D., died on 16th June 1872, and was
succeeded in the representation of the family by his eldest son.
