During his father''s lifetime he is described as "of" Northtown in Harris
and "of" Ensay. Later he became tenant of Duart and Glenanabost. He
succeeded his father in Contullich in Easter Ross. He married Margaret,
daughter of Lauchlan MacLean, tacksman of Vallay, North Uist, without
issue. Roderick MacLeod died on 6th April 1730, and was succeeded in
the representation of the MacLeods of Berneray by his immediate younger
brother.
