Rev. Murdoch MacLeod of Glenelg is also claimed to be a son of MacLeod
of Gesto. he was born in 1678, and is therefore older than Roderick, who
was the heir of John MacLeod 12th of Gesto. The probability therefore
is, that he was a natural son of Gesto''s. Rev. Murdoch, who was a
graduate of King''s College, Aberdeen, married (1) Marion MacLeod in
1723, with issue, Isabel, John and Mary. He married (2) Mary MacDonald,
with issue, Norman. He was deposed for old age and infirmity as well as
self-confessed immorality in 1755.
