Entered the army and rose to the rank of Captain. He held the Island of
Rhum in tack. Having sold Orbost to Kenneth MacLeod of Gesto, he took
over the tack of Uiginish in Dunvegan, and held it until his death in 1888.
He married, in 1876, Maria, second daughter of Major Ewan Macpherson of
Glentruim, who belonged to the Macpherson family of Nuid, a principal
cadet of Cluny Macpherson, with issue.
Captain Norman Alexander MacLeod, who died in 1888, was succeeded in
the representation of the MacLeods of Orbost by his only son.
