Is on record from 1679 to 1703 as "Norman MacLeod" and also "Norman
McAlister" in North Caipebhal (Northton) in South Harris. He may be the
ancestor of several families in Harris, locally known as "Na h-Albanaich"
for many generations. They claim descent from the chiefs of the Clan
MacLeod. In the Harris Rentals 1679-1685, we find the tenants in
Caipebhal described variously as "Albinich" or Awinich". Descendants of
this family lived at Meavag, Seilebost, Scadabay and Scarp.
