Norman, who succeeded, is described as "the son of Alexander MacLeod
of Talisker and brother german and heir to William MacLeod". He claimed
the estate of Contullich and other farms in Easter Ross, held by his
brother, and after some litigation, was successful. He held these
estates until 1678, and frequently appears in documents as Norman
MacLeod of Contullich. In that year he resigned his properties in Easter
Ross to Iain Breac 18th Chief of the Clan MacLeod in payment of a debt.
These estates later came nito possession of John MacLeod of Contullich,
a meber of the Berneray family and later factor and tutor of MacLeod.
Norman MacLeod 3rd of Ferinlea and 2nd of Contullich, married a Janet
MacLeod, with issue.
