Murdo succeeded his father in Gesto and MacLeod''s half of Glenelg. He
was married with issue, a son, whose name is unknown but whom we can
designate Mac Mhurchaidh (i.e. son of Murdo). According to Alexander
MacKenzie in the HISTORY OF THE MACLEODS, Murdo of Gesto had also a
daughter Margaret who married John Bethune to become progenitrix of a
long line of famous physicians in the Hebrides.
