John, who was known in Skye as IAIN MAC IAIN MHIC THORMOID (John,
the son of John, son of Norman), entered the Scots Brigade in Holland,
and rose to the rank of Captain, and was killed at the battle of Fontenoy
in 1745, not long after his father''s death. The BANNATYNE MANUSCRIPT
says he left a son, also John, but this is very doubtful. He was succeeded
in the representation of the family of Glendale by his uncle.
