Donald MacLeod was born, on 20th October 1794, at Arnisdale, Glenelg,
and succeeded his father as tacksman of Claigainn, Skye. Afterwards he
took over the tack of Kingsburgh, Skye, and later the farm of Coulmore in
Ross-shire. He was in his time one of the popular farmers in the
Highlands. He married, on 7th June 1837, at Scorrybreck, Portree, Mary
Anna, daughter of Dugald MacLauchlan of Kinlochaline, Lochaber, and of
Scorrybreck, Skye, with issue.
Donald MacLeod died, on 21st April 1877, aged eighty-two years, at
Coulmore, Ross-shire, and was buried at Glenelg [THE MACLEODS OF
ARNISDALE, pp. 35-6, 50-2.]. He was succeeded in the representation of
the MacLeods of Arnisdale by his eldest son.
