Lauchlan... was born in 1817, and emigrated to Australia, where he
became joint-proprietor of THE ARGUS, one of the great Australian daily
newspapers. He married, as his first wife, Jane, duaghter of Robert
Montgomery, Belfast, without issue, and, as his second wife, Emily,
daughter of Lieut. John Bundock, R.N., without issue of their own, but he
adopted the orphan nephew and niece of his wife. Lauchlan MacKinnon
retired to Britain in 1868, and made his home at Elfordleigh in Devon,
and at Duisdale in Sleat, Skye. He died in March 1888.
