The first of this Sirname I have found on Record, was Odo, alias Y Macy,
who obtained from King James IV. "pro bono etc fideli servitio, tam
tempore pacis, quam guerae impenso etc assportatione nobis quondam
Alex. Sutherland de Delred, etc. aliarum decem personarum, ejus
complicum nostrorum rebelliu, omnes etc. singulas terrae subscriptas,
viz. Terras de Fare, Gosesbey, Catack, Croyn, Kilblachman, in vicecom. de
Inverness, quae quidem Terrae cum suis Pertinentiis fuerunt quondam
dicti Alexandri Sutherland haereditariae etc nunc nobis pertinen. etc in
manibus nostris legitime devenerunt, ratione Forisfacturae dicti
quondam Alexandri, etc. Aput inverness 4to die Mensis Novembris, 1499.

Jye Roy, or Odo MacKay of Farre, ...got a charter under the great seal
from king James IV. for his good and faithful services, Odoni MacKay in
Strathnaver, of the lands of Farre, Golspey, Catach, Croym, Kilchallum,
Chile, etc. in Inverness shire, dated 4th of November 1499.
He got another charter under the great seal from the same prince, of
the lands of Assiter, Ledchoigack, etc. 6th March 1507.
He died in an advanced age, anno 1512, leaving issue a son, Donald
MacKay of Farre.
