3. Celestine, who had a charter, Celestino de Insulis de Lochalchen,
brother of John, Earl of Ross and Lord of the Isles, and the heirs betwixt
him and Fynvola, daughter of Lachlan Macgillean of Dowart, from the Earl
of Ross, cum consensu et matura deliberatione totius concilii sui, dated
2d February 1462-3, of Lochbyrne, Lochalch, Lochcarryn, Torvir, Tayne,
and Keschernis, in the earldom of Ross. He had another charter, 10th
January 1463-4, of the lands of Fernacostrath, &c. in the earldom of
Sutherland; and a third of tweny marks of land, in the lordship of Slete,
in the lordship of the Isles, dated 8th November 1463, from the said Earl
of Ross, Celestino, fratri suo CARNALI, witnessed by John de Insulis, son
and heir of Donald de Insulis, Lord of Dunnowaye and of Glynis, Joanne
Alexandri de Insulis, and Angusio Alexandri de Insulis. These three
charters were confirmed by one under the great seal, 21st August 1464.
Celestine had a son, Donald, who died without issue, and three daughters,
of whom the eldest, Margaret, married Alexander Macdonell of Glengary;
and from them descended Lord Macdonell and Arros.
