Hugh, the eldest son, was educated a writer or attorney. He went to
Jamaica in the year 1748 and died in 1756. He was very friendly and
well disposed. He was careful and diligent in business, sober, and
regular; and by these means acquired a considerable stock, part of which
was remitted to his mother, brother, and sisters, after his death.
